What I notice is that a lot of the cynical posts or "waaah so what" posts are made from people who almost definitely are just apathetic to the state of games now and would rather it just die. They think that games dying is what will change the industry, but that's exactly what companies want. They want games to die and for you to not care enough to move onto the next product. Whether you play a game from 20 years ago or not doesn't change how the industry as a whole works, and at this point the companies don't care if you vote with your wallet. The only way to really get them to stop this bullshit is to actually make it so they have to follow a law. It's not daddy government stepping in, it's just them being subject to regulation they should've always had. Games shouldn't just die because a bean counter decides they don't make enough money anymore.
