Because people are meat robots with programing that makes them automatically respond to stimuli in the environment.

And especially in propaganda you don't merely present two arguments neutrally and let the observer decide by weighing the pros and cons of both before making an informed decision. Instead you leverage everything you can to persuade them to your side of the argument.

When people see, smell, touch, or hear something unpleasant it sets off a whole cascade of automatic responses that then get asociated with whatever else is happening at the moment.

This is also why people who are demonizing other humans always compare them to pests, vermin, diseases, parasites, and other icky things to trigger that association.

The flip side is when you want to make something seem appealing you present pleasant stimuli with it. A lot of beer commercials and so forth use sexy women to advertise their product so that you associate the two. You present ideas with a smart looking attractive speaker. and so forth.

Everyone is a lemming. A stupid little pawn being manipulated by psychopaths and conmen.
