Land locking Knuckles fucks him up because then he'd have to appear when shit goes down which Shadow's supposed to do. The red guy would've fared better had he just been broing with Sonic and Tails instead so he wouldn't step on Shadow's toes and look redundant. The 00s games and the movies had the right idea.
