K6BD is the logical conclusion of what happens when a great artist that can't write for shit makes their own comic. It's the West's answer to the back half of manga OPM. Everything memorably good about it involves its visuals: the composition is generally solid, the character designs are memorable, the fights are weighty and flow like water, the scenery and backgrounds are stunning. Every page is shaded and rendered, you've got all these wacky perspective shots and it's generally a very pretty affair. I think it's worth skimming through off the merit of its art alone.
But is it any good as a narrative? Does it tell a compelling story? No, not even fucking close. The main character, Allison, fucking sucks. She's pretty much always fucking sucked, a basic bitch white girl so utterly lacking in emotional depth or intrigue that we literally got to see her personal mindscape to find it full of the most cookie-cutter #whitegirlproblems imaginable (body dysmorphia, crippling depression, etc...) She never really develops as a person as much as she just ping-pongs between generic archetypes, none of which are ever remotely interesting to watch. Her best friend has a stupid accent and writes fanfic, and that's about all there is to say about her; and White Chain is pretty cool, except that her arc is both incredibly underdeveloped and rushed out the door. All the best characters are the bad guys, as they are in every hack story; the arcs are slapdash affairs, the pacing is liquid ass and the character dynamics are woefully underdeveloped. It's a terrible, terrible drama, about as emotionally gripping as the average high school Tumblr poem.
So if you're looking to read something that'll really tug at your heartstrings and suck you into its world, then don't bother, but if you like pretty art then I'd give it a look-through.
