I dont think operating system really matters in a CS program, they design the work so everyone can do it as long as they have shell access. Its best to use whatever youre familiar with and make sure you have Bash or a Bash clone like zsh installed.

There are some some business majors in my classes that are obviously doing quant and 99% of them are using macbooks
