>b-but that's the point dough, it's repugnant dogshit on purpose

Besides the fact that Abby just isn't very good at writing interesting characters that aren't bad guys, Allison's just not fun to watch. She has one good stretch in book 2 between the I WANT- explosion into ruining Mottom's tree, and then that's it. Whatever momentum she was building up is completely curbstomped by her abysmal portrayal in Book 3, where she figures via her limitless amount of 80 IQ brainpower that to harness power means being a piece of shit nobody likes. Even in this state, she's -somehow- not fun to watch, and that's because Allison is a walking cliché. Nothing about her carries any weight, nothing about her commands your attention; she's not depraved enough to garner your interest like Incubus, she's not delusional and quietly self-defeating like Solomon. She's so basic that even her depression is easy to deal with. She sleepwalks her way in and out of a lesbian relationship, because Abbadon thought he banked up enough relationship points between Allison and Cio for their kiss to feel earned (it didn't) after one-third of her screentime by that point had been as a generic asshole that Kenshiro would kill in a filler episode. Fuck, even Cio at least had ONE memorable character quirk.

There are characters that are fun to watch fumbling and eating shit; Allison isn't one. Almost her entire arc (starts off way out of her depth, unwilling to go all in -> starts to harness the power -> falls off the deep end -> locks in -> gets depressed -> pulls it back for the endgame) is just a bloated and soulless version of Simon's. There's only so many times you can go "oh but she sucks and is boring intentionally" before it gets stale.
