This is pretty much why even though we have models that won ImageNet competitions and why a large part of basic computer vision is 'solved', its still not nearly worth using so much processing power for something that any human being can look at and say "that is a [color] [brand] car, probably from [year of make] driving at [time of day]" while also being able to specify numerous other aspects if you asked them.
Workplace-demands are so rarely simple. Retarded MBAs might believe they are because they're guillable retards. Humans interact with numerous interfaces depending on their work, job or lifestyle. We're like at stage 1 of getting the absolute basics down at doing one task, barely interfacing and passing information through programmed scripts that aren't dynamic. Sci-Fi is really bad at demonstrating how research and development usually works because they use one "breakthrough" as an umbrella to fit something which is a technically complex layered problem. It's supposed to date things and keep world-building simple, which actually makes it a good way to do that. It just doesn't match up to real life.

System Shock as a whole is massively far ahead whenever you look at even the smallest thing you could think of in the game technology wise.
