Sakura is not incompetent - she just doesn't belong in the main cast, because she lacks a decent character arc (that isn't her going circles around Sasuke). Also she never got a training/power-up arc (her becoming a student of Tsunade was off-screened), which makes her unexciting and unhyped as a character. She was always the third wheel in the Sasuke-Naruto totally-not-gay-for-each-other relationship.

100% THIS. The entire show should have been those comfy, brainrot, case-of-the-week episodes. That's why the manga the anime is based on is such a barebone downgrade. The Bort anime staff should have been in charge of the manga writing, really.
