pretty much you need starters to bridge some time but sooner or later the goal has to be a rabbit pen, fishpond, chicken coop, worm farm etc. anything that turns waste or inedible stuff into food. Guinea pigs will still eat somewhat spoiled grains and in summer mostly grass. A GP sow can have five litters in a year... you cant stop them from fucking. though honestly they taste like shit I'm not sure i could deal with that. Heavy spice and processing would be needed. Chicken/eggs are god like in contrast.


an alternative use of the Grain / feed pellets is to bait, hunt/trap the animals that come for it. A good trap set up can be extremely efficient.

A good option is dog food, it last a solid while and is crack for many wild animals. so, a good investment even if you don't have a dog.


but it kinda depends on the situation local unrest ? economic crisis ? war? zombies? do want bunker down for 3 months until it blows over or did a solar storm do a hard reset and you are looking at 20 years?
