To answer OP's question, I would say the death of traditional values. Also the usurpation of family businesses by huge corporations. People used to get their clothes made by the tailor down the street, now Walmart decides what color yoga pants is in season. But you can see a slice of the old America if you go to church, it's just they're all 80 years old. You can also see it on an Amish farm. Sending your kids off to government camp so they can be a corporate slave and buy all their food and clothes from corporations while living in cities designed by corporations. And all that being forced to live alongside extremely hostile stone age tribesmen.
