I think elves are fairly versatile, even if you keep to them being all high and mighty old people.
As an example, pic related comes from an elven culture that was favored by its local god since its creation. When that favor was eventually lost due to reasons, they all went crazy trying to get it back. She especially went off the deep end since she was the queen and she felt like she was owed her god's favor the most. All of this leads to a lot of genocide and eugenics.
