Obligatory Kentie's Launcher recommendation. It's literally braindead easy to use (just download and run/install .exe) and fixes some rendering issues caused by modern hardware, plus it has built-in graphics configuration and mod manager. GMDX or New Vision are decent mods if you want better graphics, but keep in mind they also change some skills and weapon balance. I can't tell you about other mods, though. I haven't tried Revision, either.
It's also on sale pretty often. It's only a buck on Steam right now, and $3.50 on GoG.
