>Having no friends is infinitely preferable over being surrounded by people that torment you because they find it funny or pity you.
It's something you learn relatively late.

The local Subway's manager was literally named Manmeat the last time I went in one. That was about 20 years ago. Franchisees are all kumars. But unlike Dunkin Donuts, they're not selling something that people must have, so their scale doesn't provide a moat.
Also, it's a past prime concept. "Healthier than fast food" that isn't really healthier than fast food unless you're on Lipitor. Anyone willing to upgrade from classical goyslop will pay the extra 20% to get ingredients that aren't vacuum sealed and embalmed. Racial shifts have also diminished the demand for psuedoitalian at the bottom of the market in favor of nachos.

I'd say the key difference is your personal preference... what you're willing to forgive, for the sake of what you may like, about what you're playing, it's also often the difference between a 1* title and a 2* one, both below average, but one has something to like in your eyes, enough to give it an extra star at least, and the other gets a minimum rating because you disliked all of it, or because the few good things were completely overshadowed by the bad ones. It's something that comes down to details often.
I'd say things like childhood memories, like (>>11802609) mentioned, and licensed titles for licensed IPs you're fond of and/or grew up with, or even a console's specific title of graphics and/or sound, can twist the bias in its favour when being judged.
