Can anyone please explain how do these Day 3000 Star Trail Drops work?

I know they introduced a "spark" system some time ago. So when I get a respective trail drop at 100 rolls I can spark the rate-up character of that banner, right?
But how does this one work? Do you just get a random five star chosen from the list? Or do I get to pick the one I want?
