The only way someone can identify as non-binary is when they have little or no responsibilities or problems in life, which being rich obviously helps tremendously with.
I don't know if it's a linguistic issue, but I don't think I've ever heard of or seen non-binary who weren't from English speaking countries (more or less just the US, UK and Canada). Many languages have much more clear divides in terms of grammatical gender, so I wonder if that makes a difference also. I bring this up because I live in one of the richest and most progressive countries in the world (Denmark), and yet I've only ever met one person who claimed to be non-binary - and that person even had an accent that I couldn't quite figure out.
