If harem politics are anything to go by, there would be vicious politics and constant murder and infanticide as rival mothers seek to secure a powerbase, controlling the breeding male. Male children would be raised by their mothers, and while their nominal power might increase as their numbers rise they would be psychological slaves to the matriarchs as was the case of many imperial harems in the later stages of empire.
