Fashion is a mechanism through which authority is imposed. The push for every man to stop wearing suits as every day wear and instead dress casual with jeans and a t-shirt is not to be underestimated. We know live in a society where it's easy to recognize who is an "authority" and who is not, simply by looking at how they dress. This applies to politicians, CEOs, doctors, etc.
