It got bad in the Frontier era. In that show they tried to do a Tokusatsu thing but instead of making shit that looks cool like the undead from Kamen Rider Blade or the yo-kai from Kakuranger they made really lame peoplemon. The Savers era was better because it gave us digimon Rizegreymon and Loaderleomon, but it also delivered Shinegreymon and Ravenmon. Then in the xros and appmon era like 75% of the digimon were ass and lame. There's some cool ones like madleomon but fucks like shoutmon and all his parts don't have charm. But after an era of not enough to get a name, Pendulum Zs delivered a course correction and a lot of great-looking monsters. Which leads into the Ghost Game era we're in now until Beat Break drops in October. It's pretty hit or miss honestly, but the hits hit hard enough to cover up for the misses.
