>>Nah I think Monolith will add some of their own ingenuity to make the combat stand out from everything else.
But their current combat already stands out from everything else. Making it go full action is going to make it less discernible from Final Fantasy and Tales combat right now. Oh you know what else they could do? Add a parry system!
You don't have any fucking idea what you want and if you guys were in charge of this series, it would turn to shit in an instant. I don't want the combat to just become generic action juggling. I don't want turn-based combat. Xeno games have their own identity, and if they're going to drastically change the combat, they might as well just make an entirely different RPG, and I hope they do, because then people who want something new can gravitate towards that, and we can have both exist at the same time.
It is up to Monolith, and everyone I know who is a fan of Xenoblade games seems to have formed the consensus that the combat in 2 is actually really good. The worst parts of combat about 3 are the fact it integrated combat styles from 1. Everyone agrees 1 has the most boring combat system. Everyone agrees the most fun thing about XBX is the customization and overdrive. The combat systems have gotten better over time with the exception of 3, even though it was still pretty fun overall. The only thing that made 3 a regression is the nostalgia pandering to integrate elements of one. You guys think that the combat is at a dead end because you don't have the creativity to make it more interesting, just like you don't have the creativity to tell me how to make an interesting action combat that differentiates itself from games that flopped like Tales of Arise and FFXV. Nobody liked that combat. I've given you guys ideas, all i'm getting here is just "generic action" with a twist, but nobody but monolith can figure out the twist. I don't think that's gonna be an improvement from what we have.
