>>714627864So you'd like it to play like the new Final Fantasy?
You know from what I remember that game didn't really bring in any new players!
The thing is, Xenoblade when compared to its competition has one of the most unique battle systems on the market. People call it an MMO-lite, but it doesn't really play like an MMO at all. Just because you have arts that have cooldowns doesn't mean even XBX plays like XB2. Two completely different battle systems that play off completely different from one another despite having a similar skeleton. I think they can take it further, if XB2 is anything to go by. Arts that fill up based on action, not necessarily a timer. That's generally considered one of the better battle systems among any Xeno game. 3 was somewhat of a regression because of the Keves arts inspired by XB1 ran on a timer. This meant that the Agnus classes based off XB2's combat were a lot more fun to play than the Keves ones. Also the chain attack system was basically turn based in 3 and nobody liked that.
I don't think the game fully action oriented is gonna do much. Tales also does that and nobody really cared about the most recent game. It didn't bring in any new players.
The most popular RPGs right now are ALL turn based. Baldur's Gate 3, Persona games, indie rpgs. I know that the Final Fantasy 7 remakes go for a sort of hybrid turn-based/action system. Is that what you want? Or do you want it to be more Devil May Cry like FFXV? I honestly think that would be a regression for the series and would push people away from Xenoblade if they just made their combat more generic in order to try and appeal to more people. Because that didn't work for Final Fantasy and it didnt work for Tales. The games that embraced turn based systems however are fucking killing it right now. I don't buy that making the combat action oriented is going to make it any deeper, any more fun, or bring in any more people.
