Maybe you should try reading. He calls them that because they do not follow their own teachings. He actually criticizes them for not being genuine Pharisees. Do you follow their teachings? No, and therefore you're not doing what Jesus told you and you're in the exact same boat as them.

Jesus told every follower of his to abide by them. The whole "new covenant" thing isn't what Jesus himself preached.

I am not sure why you are implying that Jesus was opposed to the Pharisee sect and its claims. He considered them to be righteous enough to command Christians to follow every word of theirs. Of course he also believed them to have flaws (their hypocrisy and how they were addicted to vanity), especially the leadership but not their religion per se. He even told them they have the same authority Moses had. So it's pretty clear the oral and written law are affirmed by Jesus and that means whatever is written down in the Talmud is just as authoritative as the bible which was canonized quite late itself.
