Thing is, I do like a big flashy fight. Flashy for flasht's sake is perfectly fine when done properly.

It's all the more reason why I cannot pinpoint why this doesn't work.

My current thought is that Rise is really...try-hard about it. Having a swagger that isn't there. Like, all those standing there, grinning with that cool stand pose. Even then, I was not satisfied with that answer.
