It's going to be impossible to play the mercury spec without being memed on, isn't it?

Did they ever reveal where the locust came from and why their "queen" looked just like a normal human but with fancy armor? I played gears 4 but all I remember is the shitty opening level being fighting a bunch of fucking robots, and there being a big chase with a crashing plane eventually.
