Icebrood Saga Drizzlewood Coast
Those are the 2 best open world farming maps in the game. Once you get Drizzlewood make sure you purchase 10-15 discounted Cache Keys every day and set your reward track at the Quartermaster ('change what legion your charr commendations' go to option), currently Ash Legion is worth the most. These tracks also give you 2 mystic clovers every time you complete them which is the only way to earn them with open world gaming
Dragonfall is hard to squeeze all the profit from if you don't have a skyscale. Griffon and/or skyscale are really nice for Drizzlewood but not required. You'll fall behind on cache keepers after the South meta etc without flying mounts but I think you can probably keep up enough without.

LWS3 is pretty bad too. It's bad if you're a GW1 fan because you see the lore you might've grown to love being raped in the most atrocious ways possible, and if you've never played GW1 you'll have a hard time figuring out what the fuck is going on or why you should care about these memberberry characters.

I think Evoker is going to try to respond to the "Catalyst is just an F5" criticism by trying to do something interesting with the F-Keys but then wind up being the least interesting Ele spec once the traits are revealed.
Engi is going to be the most unremarkable spec. The idea for it will be fine, not good not bad, and the execution on the idea will be fine, not good not bad.
Revenant is going to have a really cool spec concept, and the mechanics of it will either be so bad that it becomes the worst of the nine specs, or so good that it's the best one.

For PvP? Give up. It's a masochistic class for the time being. Your main issue is you have no boonrip and barely any self boons. You have huge damage nukes but it's been nerfed to oblivion and is now a very heavy skill based class due to how low tier it is compared to every other(including core) warrior. I only play it unranked for memes now, but with the buffs to PvE bladesworn(near or at 50k bench) I have hopes they'll bump PvP version up a bit. If you like the class play it in PvE. Conduit doesn't seem like it camps either. I think you build the Affinity while you're in one stance, then use the F-skill right before you swap to maximize the duration. Basically Form of the Assassin would be used right before you exit Shiro and you'd have it while you were in Razah, and then you'd use Form of the Dervish right before you exit Razah and you'd have it while you're back in Shiro.

Amalgam says it lets you pick which of the Amalgam toolbelt skills you get, so presumably there's at least 5 or 6 that you can choose four of, plus the Elite that changes a bit based on your toolbelt.

I think the biggest issue with starting new in DDO is that the player base is established already and knows all the ins and outs. Grouping is the equivalent of joining a dungeon run in GW2 as a new player; your group will help you and explain everything, the playerbase is chill af, but you'll feel like an absolute jobber while they rush around 1-shotting everything even on the highest difficulty.

At some point they released reincarnation, which gives you bonuses for starting from scratch after hitting level caps. You end up with overpowered busted as fuck classes at low levels which might be kind of off-putting for new players. You'll never really get the same feeling of when the game first launched, with large groups of people tackling dungeons on a level playing field.

Still... I enjoy it enough to play it as my backup from GW2. Whenever GW2 feels stale and boring and dead to me, I'll usually step away and play DDO for a month or two and appreciate what a much smaller dev team can accomplish when they don't have an overbearing parent company breathing down their necks.

Completing each zone before moving on to the next might get old, there's no real reason to do that until way later when you want to craft legendary weapons. Completing maps will get you transmog charges (or rarely a a black lion key) though so it's not a bad thing either to be clear.
You'll get enough hero points just from leveling to 80 to get all of your core specialization lines unlocked. HP challenges in expansion zones actually give you 10 hero points each so unlocking elite specs will be a bit easier than you might think, though the fights can be hard without a strong build or someone to help.
If you're just leveling your first character, the Adventure Guide in your achievement panel will get you tons of experience. Focus on dynamic events (orange circles etc on your map) over hearts, events are basically the main focus of the open world, hearts are kinda just filler.

You can take a level 2 character to the PVP lobby where all of your skills etc are unlocked. There's a weapon vendor and target dummies to try out each class. Elite specs will be unlocked for expansions you own.
As far as which classes use sword in meta builds I'm not super sure. Offhand sword is used a little on power damage mesmer builds, not really sure about warrior or guardian.

Eating 1 Zephyrite Fish Jerky gives you 25 stacks of a fishing party buff that caps at 99, gives you a lot of the fishing power stat. You can basically just eat 4 to start at max stats all the time. Normally 1 fish caught adds 1 to the fishing party stacks.
The buff is shared with anyone in a party/squad on the same skiff, so in the profitable locations there's often fishing party squads on LFG (Domain of Kourna during daytime for example). You can just join a party where someone has stacks and step on their skfif or boop it with your skimmer to copy them for yourself, then get on your own skiff to fish. You can also buy the jerky on the trading post for like 20-30 silver each. So the recipe isn't like crazy important just nice to be able to make the jerky yourself for when you do need it instead of paying like 1g to get to max stacks.

Daredevil is good on certain encounters power for dhuum CM and CM 100, Condi for W8 CMs and a few strikes. I'm a meta slave so my definition of good is BiS for encounters or topping the bench on snowtrannies. Right now Bladesworn and Mirage are shitting out damage on most encounters, but there's a lot of good options roughly the top 20ish bench marks will likely all get nerfed in a future patch. Arenanet does not like classes benching over 45k let alone the ones pushing over 50 right now.

The real answer is incompetence + community negligence. Mirage was probably fine but the stigma that it was bad lead to people not play testing it. Arenanet bumps up some traits and now it's 52k because now people realized Peitha relic procs off the Mirage cloak and is a retarded modifier for it. No clue how bladesworn happened I played it a few times before patch and it was benching like 40k with the same set up it has now. They just don't play test or number crunch apparently.
