The tale of the 1862 flashbang:
>Be me
>innadesert
>nighttime
>Finishing pound of powder I have had for way too long
>measure what was left
>Don't remember exact amount, but if I shot them separately it would be pretty underpowered
>decide to load it up into 1 shot
>pour powder down
>ram ball down
>ball maybe has 1 inch of actual barrel
>before I set the cap on the nipple I turn off my flashlight and lower down my soviet nods
>put the cap on nipple
>hammer to full cock
>take aim
>fireball at least a foot wide emerges from barrel
>left tube goes completely white (yes I am left handed)
>on the right tube I can almost see the fireball extending another foot forward
>throw gun down, and turn on flashlight thinking it exploded
>look at my hand and count fingers
>they're all still there
>point flashlight to derringer that is now in the sand
>intact, minus the side of the wood having cracked
>small smokescreen down range
>left tube is extremely dim
>call it a night and go in tent
Took this photo once I got home. The left tube is to this day much dimmer than my right
