>Is it just me or does Odd Rock feel more like a parody of Nintendo's usual sidekick formula? A cutesy round abstract mascot vaguely themed around the main gimmick, but this time it gets replaced ten minutes later by an established character who's an active participant in a more involved story.
I think it's primarily meant to jab at Odyssey, since the main gimmick was using the hat to control enemies and literally everything wore or looked like a hat in response to that.
