>Not giving up all the beans but if you go to a technical college for Airplane maintenance
Doesn’t it take like 3 years to get your A&P? Also, there’s a lot (like a fucking lot) of aircraft MX in the military. And the mil will pay for your A&P.
>you can currently get a job at one of the midrange companies and get paid $36 an hour as a 20 year old.
Uh, without your A&P? Or are we assuming they started fresh at 17 and already have it?
>Over time is 1.5x for the first two hours and 2x for every hour after that. Weekend work can be anywhere from 1.5-3x your regular pay depending on your contract
Don’t most places start you on nights though? For like years? I feel like that’s important to mention.
>And it all adds up I’m 24 and get paid 42 an hour for my certs and incentives
Good for you man, but that’s still like $84k a year + whatever healthcare plan you got. That’s a far cry away from $150k like an O-3 in Cali is pulling. Obviously officer pay varies by location, but $84k is prolly a fucking O-1 in Bumfuck, No Where. E-5, E-6 is pulling that depending on the where they’re at and such.
>Might not be for everyone but I’d rather do this than be in the military
Yeah, that’s fine, but aircraft MX is hard ass work. You’re also prolly gonna end up nights. Also, you can do that in the military for at least a contract, get your A&P, and leave for civvy maintenance.
Not even being a recrooter here, but we’re discussing mil pay and jobs and such, so just putting it in perspective.
