ive been trying to increase my flexibility, with the current goal of a standing split. ive been trying to use several tutorials/routines for general flexibility/yoga but ive not seen any improvement in 2-3 months. i can't do any of the exercises as shown in most references involving legs, i forced myself to put palms on my feet with a motor and pulley jig; it hurt really really bad then i couldn't stand for a week(only tried once though).

i'm not terribly out of shape, but i'm also not a athlete. i use walking as my main mode of transport so my leg muscles are quite tough but stiff. my arms/neck/abs are already flexible as i actually need to use them every day with a good rom but my back/legs are incredibly stiff.

can anyone suggest a solution/advice? is there anything i can do outside of just stretching to speed up the progress? 23 male sub 100lb btw.
