You know what's even more fucked up? The fact that Max was actually killing Professor MacDougal who was a reguler human like him. Yes, it was in self-defence and she did died in the explosion as the monster she was been turned into, but as you got older, you realize it was the first time that Max, a 10 fucking years old has murdered a human being for the first time in his life. That's pretty fucked up if you ask me, part of the reason why I liked this episode the most.
