The snail is a common garden snail, Cornu aspersum (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornu_aspersum)
An average speed of ~8.58 m/h when active (source: https://conchsoc.org/sites/default/files/MolluscWorld/MolluscWorld_36.pdf; average of recorded top speeds)
An average daily activity of 10h (source: average daylight hours of ~14h10m from Apr-Oct, from https://nomadseason.com/climate/ukraine/kyiv-city.html; locomotor activity restricted to nighttime/during storms from https://www.cabidigitallibrary.org/doi/10.1079/cabicompendium.26821 - call it ten hours even to accommodate daytime storms etc. and make the math easier)
Overwintering from October to April (source: https://www.cabidigitallibrary.org/doi/10.1079/cabicompendium.26821 suggests 6-7 months; temperatures that trigger overwintering from https://www.backyardpests.com/where-do-snails-go-in-winter/ correlated with climate data from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyiv corroborates ~6 months from Oct-Apr)
The snail comes out of overwintering at some point during the day on 3/31/2022 and waits until nightfall to being his march (allowing for the 10h average daily march to start immediately).
The snail continues marching until 9/30/2022, when it begins overwintering during the day. It will repeat the 3/30 emergence and 9/30 overwintering each year.
The snail starts at the border near APP Novoshakhtinsk on the E50 (47°50'47.3"N 39°45'25.0"E), and marches to the Polish border at Border Crossing Point "Yadogyn Auto" (51°11'06.7"N 23°48'28.3"E). Once in Poland, the snail changes course for the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin (52°30'58.5"N 13°22'39.3"E).
Once begun, the snail does not stop his march, nor does he deviate from the most direct path (such is the force of his will that he will levitate over or smash through any obstacle in his way, and death itself has no claim on him).
The snail's plans for Berlin are unknown, but presumed hostile.
