I'm a bitter fag who very specifically hates video essays. Essayist are no different than when an English teacher asks their students to analyze and deconstruct what the author meant when the main character does a simple action, when in reality there's no deeper meaning to it at all. It also extremely bothers me that these essayist have zero respect for the viewers time. They drag and drag and drag on, when things can easily be said in significantly fewer words and be more impactful. They seem to think word count, or in this case video length, is representative of quality. It's really fucking not and it doesn't help that the education system reinforces that idea.
>sad /v/tard who can't imagine people liking things?
As a matter of fact anon, I'm always in these type of threads encouraging other anons to make videos and share their stuff even if it is video essays. Even if I dislike the genre, I like watching what fellas from here are making.
Double plot twist. I used to make my own video essays, but I was never pretentious about it and I always focused on the actual game, my experience, keeping the essay itself succinct and trying to make the audience laugh. I quit cause I realized I never liked them in the first place and I wanted to upload more than once a month, if I was even lucky enough to do that. Despite doing Let's Plays now, I haven't fully escaped it cause I write something up for the end of every single video
Honestly after writing all this I do feel bad about the last post. I mean I still think essayist are gay. I just feel bad about shitting on something someone else enjoys. I'm sorry anon.
