Reading some more, funnily enough, the english description for his Brawl trophy uses 'it' to describe him apparently.
The wiki notes that this is the only one of the hunters trophies to do so.
I wonder how the Japanese text compares.

You may consider it tomato potato, but for things like the gags of him seething at Samus while she doesn't even know who he is, I think most people would feel a difference between him being a true blooded human or only a replication of one.
As an example dynamic, him trying and failing at the one thing he wants in his life is different if he is mortal versus if he is an AI (even if he could be destroyed as the last copy or whatever)
