You follow the corridor nervously, trying your best to move quietly. But as the grinding noise fades behind you, each step seems to echo louder than the last. You take two left turns and find yourself in a rectangular room, a bit smaller than the previous one.

Suddenly, you hear hurried, clumsy footsteps approaching, with the distinct sound of claws scraping against the stone floor. In the dim light from the phosphorescent fungus, a silhouette moves quickly toward you, making strange, guttural noises.

As it comes closer, you get a better look. It’s a humanoid creature, but definitely not human. It’s tall, with muscular arms, squat legs, and clawed hands. Its eyes are white and without pupils, giving it a ghostly, unnatural look. The creature is wearing a leather armor, and as it steps into the light, you notice its mouth and throat are smeared with something wet. Blood, most likely. The creature’s stench reeks of death, so foul it makes your stomach turn.

Its intentions, you’re certain, are entirely hostile. Your heart pounds in your chest. You’ve been bullied, beaten, even had your head shoved into toilets, but never have you faced something that could actually kill you. You’ve never faced a threat like this.
