I mean i can definitely see them both as allegories, but when it comes to literal ghosts, it wouldn't make sense for them to have genders, because y'know, no corporeal form, therefore identity is completely fluid and sex doesn't exist. Throughout history they/them has been used for entities like that long before they/them implied non-binary. As for that being the case for ghosts in Undertale, picrel.
