Because the game has RNG woven around everything. You can have an amazing run, hit fantastic mood up/down balancing rng, get plenty of 2-3 rainbow training and then you get to URA qualifiers and realise Super Creek only did 2 of her 3 events so your horse is just worse than she could be for no reason you could control :)
