Hey, late 90's/early 00's kid here. I'm guessing older millenials feel like Disney Channel didn't really have an impact on animation because the Disney Channel they remember was just live-action sitcoms and low budget sequel shows to their animated movies while 90's Nick and CN were where new IP's with different art styles and genres were being developed. However over that first decade of the 21th century Nick became more and more about just teen sitcoms and re-runs of Sponge Bob and kind of got stuck there; CN went through a live-action phase and it just didn't work, the early 2010's is where the western tv animation giants were Disney and CN, Gravity Falls and Star vs Foe on Disney and Gumball and Steven Universe on CN all of them having huge fandoms, there were more shows but those are the ones I can think off at the top of my head. Even more recently Disney continues to produce popular animated series (Amphibia, Owl House, Molly McGee for example) while Nick squeezes Spongebob even further and CN seems to no longer exist.
