not him but I think so. the guy I bought my old mtb from happened to have the manual for the Shimano cantis and there's like a trigonometric function to set them up right. they don't *say* that, they just show you the specific pad angles and the length of the center cable and where the brake line bolts to it for the particular model. they work great but this isn't really a thing you can eyeball and guess.
thankfully, they make plastic inserts that you pop on and it lines everything up for you. but I didn't have that and not sure you can get them anymore. but if you can find the manual, it'll tell you and it's not too difficult. I made a guide out of cardboard so I'd never have to do it again.
