Yes, we believe children aren't mature enough to make fully informed decisions. That's why they can't vote, drink, be drafted, are considered the responsibility of the parents, are usually not tried as adults, and people try to limit what they can decide for themselves including medical procedures.
Especially since we've seen the "community" toss them off without a second thought if they DO realize they've made a irreversible mistake.
