I think her main issue was that she was never particularly good at helping others, and had no superpowers or anything, so her attempts to help were mainly just one failure after another.
It's another thing now that she's basically a tank who can obliterate the baddies by pointing a finger. I can see her taking great enjoyment in being the one who saves people (like Denji) instead of being the one who gets saved.
