So I tried my first space 4x with Galactic Civilizations 3. But I couldn't get into it, even though I love Civ games. I think it's the freedom of movement in space that just makes it less fun. There aren't really any chokepoints or terrain features to take into account like a terrestrial game has. The only game to solve that was Sins of a Solar Empire with its limited hyperspace links between star systems, but it was more RTS than a true 4X. Is there any turn based space 4X that has similar movement to Sins? Or should I just go back to land based games?
