I know this is just a bait argument but part of why Deltarune is a direct improvement is because the darkners are actually trying to attack you but most of them were forced into it.
The recruit system makes feel like you're swaying the enemies to join your side and you see it pay off at near end of every chapter. It makes SPAREing feel like an accomplishment you wanna work towards while in Undertale you're automatically a good person if you just don't kill anyone.
