Have you heard of this thing called stopping down? Yeah shooting everything at f/2 is retarded, but FF literally just gives you more choice. This means on crop you're 1 1/3rd stop higher in real DoF at all times. You hit diffraction sooner and you can't make your DoF as shallow as FF. That's literally it.
