>Would recommend any Anon to go to the dentist for a clean if they *think* they need it.
You NEED to get a cleaning every 6 months. It takes 24 hours for plaque to turn in to tartar, it's pretty much impossible to not develop some tartar build up over a few months, and then it needs to be scaled off with a metal tool(don't try it yourself)

They don't pull teeth to fix crowding anymore; they typically do interproximal reduction (sanding off a few fractions of a millimeter between each tooth to make space). Consult with an orthodontist (or multiple), do your research and learn exactly what you want, especially clear aligners vs metal brackets, they will push the clear aligners hard, I let myself get talked into it when I wasn't really sure and it cost me $1200 to switch.

>How do you find a dentist that's actually good and not just trying to jew you out of money? Google reviews? How do you know if they are even going to take you? Last time I tried to make an appointment somewhere they were just like "we're not accepting new patients", I don't know why they don't want money.
I dunno man, I've heard terrible things about dentists I love, and nothing but great things about dentists I didn't like much. Pretty much all of them do good work, it's more about vibes, I guess. If you have insurance just go with whoever is in your network, if they say they aren't accepting patients try the next one.
>It's also been years since I've been to a dentist which is kind of embarrassing.
Doesn't really matter how long it's been or how much damage you've done in the past, they can tell how well you're taking care of your mouth in the present. Plus, the fact that you are concerned about what they think tells me you're far from the worst thing they've seen (and smelled), like 50% of the people they see don't even floss, just don't walk in with bleeding gums and a nasty tongue, and don't be a little bitch when something is uncomfortable.
