Kyuubi wasn't a handicap for this fight. The only reason Naruto wasn't captured in the first place was the kyuubi. Not only was Pain weakened, he was actively holding back from killing Naruto. A weakened Tendo still had enough power to immobilize three multi-ton summons who are permanently using sage mode. Naruto without kyuubi is simply not surviving a hit like that, irrespective of whether he is in base or sage mode. It's a W with an *
