Based on couple of experiments I did, it seems to be true.
For example, -2::sad:: consistently gens girls being cheerful and happy, while neg simply avoids them being sad, they can be also expressionless/neutral etc. It's not always possible to actually "reverse" a concept and most of the time it's effectively just a stronger negative emphasis but yeah. Considering they use T5 and modified Unet their implementation is indeed likely to be different.
