Yeah its spheres all the way for me, I wouldn't set foot in anything non-spherical. Need more space, just make it bigger and thicker.
This the newest current deepest diver that has been to the bottom of the mariana trench multiple times, at its core underneatht he shell is a titanium sphere. Its rated "unlimited depth" and will probably be in service for decades. YOu know if this has made it multiple times, its going to be alright many more times. The pressure sphere will last with no problems for a long time. For extreme depth and pressure, the design of it is not to be fucked with, even the hatch and porthole design is such that the deeper it goes, the tighter the seal gets. If it loses power, it automatically drops any weights and rises.
