Hammer, got a pick to punch armor on one side, and the flat side to break bones. The shape of it can also grab at belts, weapons, and chainmail to either disarm or throw an opponent off balance. It's way easier to learn how to use than a sword or a mace.

Obviously every weapon has their pros and cons including the hammer but thats just my opinion.
