I think this question should get more attention than it usually does in similar discussions. From my point of view, there's little benefit in a pony archive if it's not accessible by other people who need something they don't have in their own archives.

NTA but bumping this. I've finally set up an instance of Tube Archivist and thrown e.g. Algo at All, AnonTheAnon, Batsy, and this cool Marbul guy from a recent "hidden gems" thread: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iIfPPJ1yE0 into queue. I wanted to stop worrying and just paste a bunch of channels into it, let it download stuff overnight and see how much resources it'll take, how usable it'll be, whether HDDs for Elasticsearch will be a problem, etc. I'm not sure how convenient it'll be for one-off pony videos on not strictly pony channels, but I saw an option to add videos by URL instead of scraping channels so yeah maybe.
I also had this idea of taking videos from rewatch threads/cytube replays to get a wide variety of old and new poni poni included.

I don't like that this not only puts agewalls on big tech parts of internet, but also has potential to make small sites unviable.
