A decade ago I'd call you a pussy, having gone through something similar (long relationship, promises of marriage/kids, backstabbed during our engagement), I do get it.
I wouldn't say the whole experience has made me cynical or spiteful of those with loving relationships, but something did just break in me that made me say "fuck it" and I've moved past that shit now. I do also worry what I will do once my extended family dies.
