Nothing more crippling than having actual standards and morals you have to follow to the detriment of all accrued political capital. It's been slowly driving his acquaintances and companions crazy (they think he's just faithfully larping lip service until a repeatingly common "oh shit he's actually serious"). The only reason he's not been fully taken advantage of yet is either the ST being a huge softie, or wanting to prolong his fall by letting him rise despite all odds (and godly combinations/rolls).
